I saw a matinee of Please Give yesterday and really liked it, even though the ending was a bit underwhelming. If you prefer great dialogue and interesting characters to action/adventure (boooooring!) then you will probably like it too. Plus, two of the characters own a vintage furniture shop with lots of Mid-Century eye candy.
I really like the female perspective in Nicole Holofcener's films (She also wrote/directed Friends with Money). The women are always a bit more complex and there is always one character that I can identify with.

I loved the strong female actors, too - Catherine Keener and Rebecca Hall...tough to go wrong!
