Have you visited the Saipua Flickr stream lately? These NYC flower girls create the most delicious combinations, like Dutch flower paintings that are not at all pretentious or stuffy.
If you follow the history of floristry (pretty sure I am alone here!), you might remember Madderlake (Check out their books), a ground breaking florist from the 1970's who made use of dandelions, poppies, geraniums, and "weeds" and used them in unconventional ways. Saipua has a very similar style to Madderlake!

coral pink peonies & ranunculus never looked more lovely. the saipua girls are incredible - i wish i could whisk them away with my to my beach wedding :)

i just love there work and i know exactly of whom you speak about i remember this fern bouquet they did from the forest.....i still dream of it!
