While in Vancouver this weekend, we happened upon a wooden boat show on Granville Island. Hillmark Boats had some row boats on display (they also make canoes and kayaks). This photo doesn't do them justice. They are so, so lovely. I really would love to own a wooden row boat with a little sail. I love the combination of a white base and wooden trim.

when i was traveling with a caravan speaking to universities student about the indigenous people of brazil and gmo on of our host houses guest was this incredible girl who build wood boats by hand, she made two a year and helped others with theirs. i remember for along time afterwards,i dreamed of making my own canoe. i have this soft spot for boats on quiet lakes.
