birthday party details

Here are some details from Grace’s birthday party. Please excuse the not so fabulous pics. I kinda wish I would have taken more Polaroids.

Bunting

1. Bunting made from leftover quilt squares stolen from my mother’s sewing room.

2. My family is a little bit insane when it comes to food. Everything must be homemade. My sister, Liz and brother Michael made 90 turkey sliders. My nephews helped me make flags for them. Also we ordered biodegradable paper goods from Branch Home. They were inconspicuous piled into a pretty Maine basket and we just threw them in the compost pile afterwards:)

3. Jordan from Oh Happy Day made the invitations. She did such a great job. When my grandmother first saw them she said," Was I holding a balloon?" I consider these invitations to also be keepsakes. I’ve got mine up on my wall by my desk.

4. Me dancing with my sister, Erika’s baby Ella. Let’s not talk about my need for a hair cut:)

5. My mom picked up this cupcake stand from Crate and Barrel and it worked really well.

6. The look on my grandmother’s face when the band started playing was priceless. Not to be gushy, but she really is something. She survived breast cancer over 30 years ago and has maintained a really positive attitude over the years. She’s getting ready to move back into her own little apartment in another week! Most people call her Amazing Grace!

  1. This looks wonderful – how special to have her in your life! I love all the little details and the invites are really great!

  2. I can attest to the fact there was no photoshop touch up with Grace. She really does look like most women 30 years younger than her. Good genes in the Fuss clan.

  3. What a beautiful celebration for a truly beautiful woman! And to be a breast cancer survivor of 30 years! I wish Amazing Grace much happiness, health, and love for many years to come.

  4. Your grandmother looks vibrant! She is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen, of any age.

  5. She sounds like an amazing woman and you sounds like such a wonderful granddaughter to put/help put this party together! It looks so fun and whimsical! I have to ask, what kind of cupcakes are those? They look beautiful and tasty!

  6. wow, i am beside myself in shock that your grandmother is 99. that face! so beautiful. that is incredible. she must know something!

  8. I love that your grandma is 99 and still had a rock band! She sounds like a treasure, your family’s so lucky – wish mine were still around…

  9. I needed to be reminded that not all older people are patients in the hospital. Sometimes it’s so depressing. Good to know that some 99 year olds love rock bands and dancing. The party looks like it was amazing.

  10. Thanks for the comments, everyone! The cupcakes were vanilla and chocolate with a raspberry frosting and a bit of jam.

Grandma Grace really does look this amazing- a little older without makeup but she really is this gorgeous. She inspires me.
