My new obsession — after Grafton, Vermont — is Chatham, New York. A straight shot across the Mass pike, an easy drive from New York, and full of lovely antique homes and barns set on rolling hills in the middle of one of the most lovely settings in the Northeast, and a short drive to some of the best arts and culture. Think Stockbridge, Tanglewood, Beacon, and so on.
This little house above has my name on it.

Ooh. I want it. The price seems really good but then again I couldn’t tell what the square footage was or how many rooms there were.
it’s gorgeous, e. i can totally see you in that house. i need a city house first, so that i can long for a country house ….
what a beautiful house, i love the country homes and i love vermont we spent our honeymoom there!
Oh my goodness – what a beautiful house! Quaint and yet the interior looks updated and absolutely cozy. And I was shocked by the price – apparently I’ve gotten much too accustomed to the terrifying prices in the NYC/NJ area.
I also gasped in shock at the price! A house like that would go for at least three times the price in San Francisco – and you sure wouldn’t get an acre of land with it. It is just beautiful!
beautiful! i would love to go there!
This sounds like an adorable town! And the house is fantastic.
Oh I so love chatham. one of my best friends lives there, and every time i visit i feel like i am on a luxurious country vacation.
there is nothing like quaint country life!
